This Erstwhile Era

sigh

one year ago today

some chose

to have their way

so now what

can we say

we listen

as faraway our

choice plays havoc

with his voice

another telecast

of the shame that will

outlast us all

cringe

when our ignoramus

strays it’s the whole

world that pays

and now he stumbles

toward war where the

thousands died before

we know it’s millions

this time all on the line

and we’re flat out of time

vote

tonight other voices

have spoken and

some news has broken

that there just might

be a bit of light

a little something

almost right
