Count Me Out Today
Count Me Out Today
No, I don’t want to write
another poem about spring.
And I don’t want to write
about my angry response
tothe 1952 movie from
Ealing Studios--the discussion
about it was annoying
enough.
Yes, it was in technicolor—
and I do remember how
impactful it was to my child
self to see that first movie
in color. But this film—
so male—the humor,
the dialogue, the pointless
train crashes—
Why mention any of it?
The boys were having such a
good time, laughing at scenes
that for me, seemed contrived
or vapid. Better not to get into it
than to Woman Splain. Not
a fan of Man Splaining,
so why add to all that?
Better to share a few quiet
words with my seat mate.
This time.
